Nick O'Connor

Managing Director

Having been involved in property development and financial services in New Zealand since 2005, Nick has seen it all. Markets rising and falling, investment trends coming and going, and construction companies thriving and struggling, to name a few.


If you asked him to name one of the most important things he’s learnt in property and finance over the years, he’d say it’s the importance of not giving up. Because he’s been there himself, he knows the challenges property developers face when it comes to securing finance – and the knock-backs they have to wear.


A natural entrepreneur, Nick is adept at sniffing out a niche, and devising clever strategies to address gaps in the market. He’s also a well-practiced professional match-maker, maintaining a big contacts book and joining the dots between people who want things done and those who have the financial resources to help get things done.


Over the years Nick has stuck his fingers into many pies, starting up successful business enterprises in the property and financial services arenas – most of which he is still actively involved in.


Among his current interests are residential development projects, with around 100 new homes under construction in the fast-growing south, north and west of Auckland. He also runs alternative invoice factoring company Buffer, which provides businesses with working capital to solve short-term cash flow issues.


Having relocated back to his home town of Christchurch for a few years post-earthquake, Nick worked with a leading national construction company overseeing one of the city’s largest earthquake repair contracts.


While in Christchurch he also worked closely alongside prominent commercial property developer Carter Group on several rebuild projects; and he has also worked with Westfield on retail property development projects around the North Island.
